ELDA is a verb in Swedish, meaning to kindle a fire.

Fire can have many connotations; destructive force, human gathering, a glimmer of hope. We lean towards the latter, choosing the act of kindling as our reference point, nurturing something delicate and improbable into a life of its own. The music collected in this box set represents what for us was a source of hopefulness in our creative lives in the years 2020-2022.

In the absence of human gathering, we reached out to fellow artists near and far to continue our work in spite of, and as a creative response to, the physical restrictions imposed at that time. We sought to recapture the vital spark of communing with listeners, bringing our improbable fireside gathering into a virtual space.

We hope you enjoy listening to the results.

The releases are grouped into two main strands, the lines between which have become increasingly blurred with each collaboration:

Live at BEAST, Na Madraí and Hello Spirit were recorded live, then reworked and reinvented by unreliable narrators.

Hippocampinae, Metal Built and Primary/Secondary/Tertiary are the result of gatherings in a virtual space, messages left, picked up and rewoven by collector-composers.

a different name for the same river belongs to neither group; it is an artefact from a time before, whittled and reshaped long after the fact into something which speaks to both our past and future work.
